Where do I look? It’s been so long since I’ve done one of these things!
Welcome to 2020!
I love newness. I love Mondays. I love new years. I love new months. New shoes. New shirts. Handbags. I may have gotten off track already… .
I don’t do resolutions each time the calendar turns over, but I do reflect on who I am and who I want to be. Sometimes I look for a word to keep in my heart to push me toward those goals of personal betterment. This year the word ‘mercy’ is where I think my focus should be.
In 2019 I found myself buried deeply in grief and dread, begging the Lord to have mercy on me. To have mercy on strangers. To have mercy on us all.
If we are to be true and humble servants, we must also show mercy- and harder for me still, we must accept mercy granted to others even when we don’t think they deserve it.
Also, I am trying to budget better! I have been using weekly throw-away calendar pages which makes it a lot easier to get back on track when you go astray. I can sit down with them when I have time or need to get organized, and then add those notes to my yearly calendar later if I need to. I’ve finally started to see not what I want most in life, but more so how to get there.
I hope 2020 is a beautiful year for all of us. There will be hard things, but we each have the power to reduce the number of hard things there are in the world for those around us.
